What we keep, and why.
You can watch every film without telling us anything. This page says what is kept when you do give us something, and how to have it removed. Last changed 20 October 2026.
- Watching
- needs no account and sets no tracking cookie. The films are served from our own content network, which logs requests the way every web server does: the address of the device and the time, kept for a short while for security.
- The newsletter
- stores your email address, the date, and where on the site you signed up. We send one email when a series is out, and nothing else. Every email has a link to stop.
- An account
- stores the name and email your sign-in gives us, and your watch record: which films you have watched, how far, when, and which you have saved or asked to be told about. That is what lets you pick up where you left off. Sign-in is handled by WorkOS, which sets a session cookie so you stay signed in.
- Your choices
- such as the dark theme are kept in your own browser, not on our servers.
- Analytics
- we count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and no device fingerprint. We see how many people came, from which site or app, and which pages they opened. We do not see who.
- YouTube
- our films are also published on our YouTube channel. We upload them with YouTube API Services, through an internal tool that only the channel's owner signs in to. It uploads our own videos and reads back whether each upload worked; it reads nothing about you, your channel, your comments or what you watch. Watching on YouTube is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. The tool's access is kept only on the owner's computer, and can be revoked at any time from Google's security settings; revoking it deletes nothing on YouTube.
- What we never do
- show advertising, sell or share your data, or track you across other sites. Nothing is used to train anything.
- Where it lives
- on Amazon Web Services in the United States, and with WorkOS for sign-in. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, that is a transfer outside your region, made under the providers' standard contractual clauses.
- Children
- the films are for everyone, but accounts and the newsletter are for people aged 13 and over. If a child under 13 has given us an email, write to us and we remove it.
- Removing it
- write to hello@thenarration.org from the address in question and we delete the account or the newsletter entry, usually within a week. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold.
Who we are: The Narration is run by Srihari Prabaharan, an individual, in the United States. Questions go to hello@thenarration.org.
